MUSIC AT LUNCHTIME – FREE CONCERTS – WITH ROGER GREEN’S SELECTION OF MUSIC
These free atmospheric concerts return to Sudbury in a temporary change of location to the beautiful former United Reform Church on School Lane in Sudbury.
June 2022 Programme:
Tuesday June 7th - Rosewood
A superb opener to the series, Rosewood play music and songs spanning five centuries using a variety of instruments. Expect to hear melodeons, bandoneon, concertina, bagpipes, flute and guitar. Join in the choruses and tap your feet to the tunes.
Tuesday June 14th - Roger Green
An opportunity to hear the Wiffen Memorial Organ after a silence since 7th January 2018. Find out if organs are always boring. If so, there will also be some piano music to cheer your day.
Tuesday June 21st -Mike Thomas and Pauline O’Brien
As brother and sister Mike and Pauline have sung together at folk events for many years. They also perform solo, Mike in the folk clubs local to him in Norfolk and Pauline locally in Suffolk. Mike plays banjo, guitar, mandolin and concertina. Pauline plays guitar, Appalachian dulcimer and autoharp. The music is varied, ranging from Bessie Smith to Tom Paxton to traditional unaccompanied songs. They enjoy them all and so will you.
Tuesday June 28th - The Ring of Belles
Something very different - a hand bells team, performing since 2017 and based in Sudbury with six ringers who play English hand bells in a wide selection of music - traditional and folk tunes and arrangements of classical and light music. You will love it.
