Following a successful debut for Abbeygate's Incredible Moving Cinema in Sudbury in November 2023, Sudbury Town Council are thrilled to announce a return visit during February Half Term. With a fantastic line up of new releases including some wonderful family-friendly film fun during the school break.

From Tuesday 20th to Sunday 25th February, the purpose-built 100-seater mobile cinema, will be set up in a central Sudbury location on in the Kingfisher Leisure Centre car park on Station Road.

Chris Peters, Associate Manager of The Moving Cinema comments:

“We’re delighted to have the opportunity to return to Sudbury with our mobile cinema, and we have another great line up of films to offer. The cinema was so well received last time, we can't wait to welcome people aboard this half term.  Our mobile cinema is fully heated and air conditioned, has full digital projection and surround sound, and of course is fully accessible”.

The return visit is being generously supported through Locality Funding from Babergh District Council which is enabling us to reach local residents who are struggling with the cost of living, to offer up complimentary tickets. Sudbury Town Council are also grateful for continued partnership working with Abbeygate Cinemas and Abbeycroft Leisure to enable the return of this unique cinematic experience.

Sudbury Town Centre Manager, Rachel Price, comments:

“The debut visit from The Moving Cinema during Autumn Half Term last year proved incredibly popular. When we asked visitors for feedback, some 600 survey respondents praised the experience for the Cinema’s comfort and accessibility, excellent film programme and friendly staff.

The survey also revealed the economic impact on our town and value of the cinema for our community. For many, the cost of a trip to the closest cinema is prohibitively high, especially for families – when you factor in the drive, parking, refreshments, even before you’ve bought your tickets, a trip to the cinema is just not an experience for all anymore. If you don’t or can’t drive then its not just about cost, it’s about accessibility.

Having The Moving Cinema in Sudbury in many ways completes our cultural offer, it also keeps people local. Long may this partnership with Abbeygate Cinema continue. If it continues to prove sustainable, the aim is for two regular visits a year in February and October.”
