November has arrived in Sudbury and brought with it brisk mornings on the water meadows, seasonal shop windows, and the beginnings of Christmas excitement. It's a month for remembrance, local shopping, indoor culture, muddy walks, community fairs and of course, the Christmas Fair & Light Switch On!

Remembrance Services

November begins with a reflective tone as Sudbury joins communities across the country in marking remembrance.

Remembrance Sunday and Armistice Day are important moments in the town’s civic year. Services, parades, wreath laying, and moments of silence give residents a chance to remember those who served and those still affected by conflict.

The Remembrance Parade takes place on Sunday 8th November this year. There will be a parade from Market Hill that will go through Gainsborough Street into Gregory Street and finishing at St Gregory's Church. If you plan to attend, arrive in good time and be prepared for temporary road closures or changes to town centre access.

The Poppy Apeal launched on 24th October and poppies are now available across the town's shops, including at the Tourist Information Centre on Gaol Lane.

Two minutes silence will also be observed on the 11th November at 11am outside the Town Hall. Members of the public are welcome to join.

Christmas Shopping & Markets

It's that time of year again - and the sooner you prepare the less stressful this festive shopping season will be! Sudbury’s town centre is a strong choice for November gift buying. Independent shops, cafés, and market stalls make it easy to keep spending local while finding something more personal than a standard high street purchase.

Shopping locally in November has a real, positive impact. It supports traders before the busy Christmas period, keeps the town centre active, and helps maintain the mix of businesses that gives Sudbury its unique character.

Keep your eyes peeled for the return of our popular Christmas Guide, with the chance to win a #LoveLocal hamper worth over £250!

What's on Around Town

November sees the return of the popular Christmas Fair and Light Switch On! Taking place in the town centre on Friday 27th November, expect fair rides, free face painting, food stalls, gift and community stalls and more! Have a look on our Christmas page to see all the details: sudbury-tc.gov.uk/christmas

There is also a varied programme of creative activities throughout the month, including life drawing on 7 November, screenprinting and etching workshops on 11 and 16 November, and a festive wreath-making workshop on 21 November.

Key Dates

Many people take part in Movember - a men's health awareness campaign focusing on mental health, suicide prevention and cancer. The movement started 22 years ago with the idea of growing out a moustache during November (hence, Movember) to start a conversation around men's health, and is now a nationwide fundraising campaign. Stour Valley Mens Shed and Sudbury Men's Walk and Talk are two local groups with similar aims and encourage men to socialise and have a place to feel comfortable talking about their mental health.

5th November - Bonfire Night

8th November - Remembrance Sunday

16th - 22nd November - National Self Care Week

This is the perfect opportunity to get yourself booked in at SWB Lounge, the newly opened beauty & wellness studio on King Street! From Japanese head spas to pilates to red light therapy, SWB Lounge is already proving to be a wonderful addition to our town centre.
