STC August Newsletter

It only feels like yesterday that we were posting the July newsletter, how is it August tomorrow already?

What a fab month July was, with the start of the school Summer holidays, the run of Witness For The Prosecution by Sudbury Dramatic Society at Sudbury Arts Centre, and a fantastic day had by all at Party In The Park.

But do not fear, August looks set to be another fun-filled month with some fantastic events going on in and around Sudbury. These can all be found in our "What's On" guide which can be picked up from the Tourist Information Centre on Gaol Lane or found here.

August sees the last of the Bank Holidays until Christmas and we are definitely going to be making the most of it with the return of Sudbury Street Food Festival, now in it's 3rd year! On Sunday 30th August, Market Hill will be lined with Street Food traders, all providing something different for your tastebuds to enjoy. Head on down between 11am-5pm to try the delicious offerings, enjoy music provided by Cloud 9 Roadshow, see the fantastic stilt performs from Ruby Flames entertainment and even some of the Sudbury Town Council staff in a humorous outfit or two!

After it's launch in 2024 (above), Sudbury Street Food Festival will be back for it's 3rd year on 30th August.

Outside seating will be provided but you can also take your food into The Wine Boutique and Sudbury Arts Centre as long as you are buying a drink. The latter is also holding a mini beer festival that day too, so it's a perfect way to spend your Sunday. You can then use Bank Holiday Monday to recover and recuperate, or even to go for a nice long walk through the meadows or along the Valley Trail to burn off a few well deserved calories.

Notable Dates in August:

International Cat Day - 8th August. Why not pop into Finnegans Whiskers to celebrate before we say goodbye to the team and their feline friends in September. Booking via their website.

National Allotment Week - 10th-16th August. We are celebrating by picking the winner of our allotment competition on the 14th, so we would like to say a big thank you to those who entered and to all of our amazing plot holders. Do feel free to visit our Newton Road allotments, which are always lovely for a walk round. Dogs on leads also welcome, just please be respectful of holders plots and stay to the footpaths.

International Dog Day - 26th August. This is the day to celebrate man's best friend! Maybe do this by popping in and supporting charity shops such as the RSPCA in Borehamgate Precinct or taking your dog out (weather permitting - please refrain from walking dogs in excessive temperatures) and stopping for a drink or bite to eat in one of the many dog-friendly eateries in Sudbury. Look out for the little paw prints on our list of places to eat and drink in Sudbury, to spot who is dog-friendly - here. Did you know, some of the cafe's and restaurants, like The Mill Hotel & Painters at the Angel, also provide a dog menu so your four-legged friend can eat with you.
